Sequoia National Forest-Monday 7-25-11

Stayed our first night in Tulare, CA and pulled out to Sequoia this morning to see the giant trees. They are 3000+ years old, over 150 feet tall and have diameters of over 40 feet. Huge doesn't even begin to describe them. Pictures really don't show how big they are but with the car in front of it, it kind of gives you a perspective. This is not even one of the biggest ones. You have to walk to them.

We hiked out to see the General Sherman tree, the biggest one there, and on the way back to the car we saw something even better-a black bear looking for food :-) He's the black spot to the left of the tree.

The kids are in the middle of a hollowed out tree.

I got to check of "See Giant Trees" off of my bucket list! That place is gorgeous!!! And the temperature was perfect. The picture below is just to rub it in.

Left Sequoia and headed into San Francisco, arriving about 9:00pm California time.
