Hate driving through Kansas Thursday 3-22-12

Left Limon, CO in the sleet about 8 CO time. I hate driving through flat, ugly, nothing Kansas. So boring! But a little movie helps to pass the time.

And the travel snack of choice...

Just crossed into Oklahoma and will be home about 5. Happy to sleep in our own beds tonight but not ready to be home after skiing with Coach Gundy. That's right! We spent the last 3 days skiing with OSU Football Coach Gundy! Never actually saw him but were told several times he was there :)

Time to head home Wednesday 3-21-12

We turned in our equipment yesterday and packed up for home with sore muscles and a couple of bruises...ask Tayte about her battle scars. She is pretty proud :)

The view from our room was great.

This is the living room where the kids hung out.

The dining area and kitchen

The bedroom had some great scenery, too. Should have taken the pics before we messed the place up.

The Mountaineer Lodge is kind of a horseshoe shape with a courtyard in the middle with a firepit. Very pretty.

We went back into town for lunch and to walk around after checking out of the Mountaineer. This is just a cute house the is covered in old license plates.

Even with the snow we got when we were there, the snow totals for Crested Butte are far below normal. We had never seen grass or dirt there before. But we can this year on the mountain.

Not an many pics this year. Everyone kind of has their favorite runs and schedules by now so it's hard to catch us all at the same place. Nevertheless, we had fun and can't wait to go back next year. Praying for good snow already!

Round 3 Tuesday 3-20-12

The fresh snow made the skiing great yesterday so we were anxious the check it out this morning. The sun was up but is was only about 10 degrees out. Layers! Layers! Layers!!

Told the kids to meet me for a few pics.

We have been watching The NAIA National Tournament online every night an tonight is the Championship Game, OBU v Concordia. For some reason it is not on the Internet and was only on a CBS Sports. Guess who didn't get that channel in their room... Made several phone calls and the hotel had it on the lobby TV. They were nice enough to let us camp put in the lobby to watch our favorite basketball player.

Although the game didn't go as we would have liked, we are so proud of Heath and the OBU team!!!

Day 2 on the Slopes Monday 3-18-12

The girls were up and out first on the 5 inches of fresh snow. We all hoped it was better than yeaterday's icy runs. It was better... just a lot colder. I caught them for a pic on their way back to the condo to warm up.

Logan getting his Camel pack ready for a day of snowboarding.

Chelsea at the top of Prospector.

I didn't get many pics of the kids today. I kept missing everyone. Ugh!

We rose the shuttle into town for dinner. The buses are great. They run all day long from the resorts on the mountain into town and back. You never have to get the car out or look for parking.

This is a creek running through town. Kinda pretty.

We ate at The Secret Stash, a pizza joint. The wedge salad was so pretty we hates to eat it!

Logan ordered the Mac Daddy pizza which is a Big Mac pizza with thousand island dressing, pickles and all. Of course, he had them hold the lettuce.

It's really pretty good!

Time to Hit the Slopes - Sunday 3-18-12

The girls were the first up and ready to hit the slopes! They are pretty cute Boarding Bunnies :)

And Logan was next.

We were very surprised at the lack of snow this year. And to make matters worse it was in the 40's and 50's last week. We had never seen dirt or grass before in Crested Butte.

The slopes are still open although it is crunchy and icy. Not easy for those of us that aren't good.

The snow came in this afternoon and it was very windy and cold. This was my skiing attire.

The girls were on the lift back up to Painter Boy.

Me and Tayter.

The girls decided to head into town early to shop a bit. The shuttle bus took us to main street.

Crested Butte downtown.

Expecting over 6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Hope the skiing gets easier :)

Snow Bound -Saturday 3-17-12

Set out for some fun in the snow yesterday after I stole Tayte from school a little early. Pulled out at 3:15 headed for Trinidad, CO. Spent the car ride getting play by play updates of Heath's basketball game from sweet Natalie. I called it Nat Stats. Thank goodness she was able to do it because we had no Internet signal to keep up online. OBU Bison won and advanced to the NAIA Elite Eight. Yay!!! We made it to Trinidad about midnight Oklahoma time.

We woke up Saturday in Trinidad to a beautiful sight!

We saw some other sights throughout the day including this guy.

We switched drivers between Salida, CO and Monarch Pass.

I took this as she looked to pull onto the road and said, "I've never driven this car before"! Awesome!

Happy sign!

We arrived to our hotel about 2:00. Yay!

I'm not sure if we brought enough stuff!

Home Again-Tuesday 8-2-11

All good things must end and so must vacation. Headed out of Phoenix at 9:00 their time. Stopped for lunch at Tayte's new favorite find-Del Taco. (We had to indulge her. We made her eat at In and Out Burger 3 times.)

Drove all stinkin' day. Several naps and stops during the day. We finally rolled into Oklahoma at

And into the driveway at 12:08 California time, 2:08am OK time. Fun trip. Saw a lot, went to a lot of places and drove a lot! But, laundry is done and I could leave again tomorrow...
